Then and Now: WWCCR Logo

Did you know…

1977 logo

The WWCCR logo that was familiar to many over the years was originally the logo for the Third Northwest Charismatic General Conference held at the Seattle Center July 7-9, 1978. The main speaker that year was Fr. John Bertolucci. The logo’s design has been attributed to Joe Sigel.

Our previous Vision and Mission read as follows:

Living, Proclaiming and Nurturing Baptism in the Holy Spirit… in vibrant relationship with Jesus and with the Church.

WWCCR Vision Statement

WWCCR is called to serve the Church in the Archdiocese of Seattle in its primary mission of evangelization by assisting it to recognize that baptism in the Spirit is key to normative Christianity. We do this by living, proclaiming and nurturing baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit refers to the appropriation of our full Christian inheritance imparted through the sacraments of initiation. It is the initial and continued experience of the power of the Holy Spirit which leads to ongoing conversion and openness to the full range of gifts which the Holy Spirit chooses to bestow on us, exercised in vibrant relationship with Jesus and with the Church.

Renewing the Face of the Earth + Empowered by the Holy Spirit

Beginning in 2008, along with our new Vision and Mission Statements, we unveiled a new logo. Designed by Sharon Fox in 1997 for a graphic design school project, it hung silently in her office waiting for the right moment to be noticed. When the Board of Directors were discerning the new Vision and Mission Statements it was as if God said “Now is the Time!” and the new logo was adopted.

The logo is accompanied by a new motto: + Renewing the Face of the Earth + Empowered by the Holy Spirit

Sharon Fox was a staff member at WWCCR from 1988 to 2007. In November 2007 Sharon answered a call from God to serve as a staff member at the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (ICCRS) office in Rome. Sharon currently serves on the WWCCR Board of Directors.
